Sickle Cell Anemia Support Group

Dear Sickle Cell Community:

The Sickle Cell Anemia Foundation of Oregon is planning to start up a monthly support group for Sickle Cell patients. We have doctors of color (two of whom have SSD) attending, as well as discussions about new pharmaceutical treatments aimed at sickle cell.

We are proposing a meeting every 3rd Thursday of the month, from 7PM to 8PM.

We will be offering $50 each to the first 20 sickle cell patients to sign up and attend at least the first 3 sessions.

Multnomah County Public Health’s COVID Testing and Vaccine Team are partnering with Multnomah County REACH Program and community partners for this next vaccine clinic.

We need your help! Please help us – assist eligible clients, family, elders  and community in signing up for the Friday 2/19/21: REACHing US Older Adult 70+ Moderna COVID Vaccination Clinic from 10:00 am – 3:00 p.m. at Highland Haven: here.

 

About the Friday 2/19/21: REACHing US Older Adult Moderna COVID Vaccination Clinic

Who: This event is focused on serving our elders 70+, Black, Immigrants, Refugees, Indigenous and other people of color. This vaccination clinic will be providing the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine.

What: No cost.  No ID needed. We’ll return in 4 weeks to provide second doses. The vaccine is Moderna.  If you or a loved one qualifies, please schedule yourself for a 15 minute appointment. This is the first step of securing your vaccination appointment. Once you choose your time slot and submit your information, a link to the Health Screening Form will be sent to the email address you provided. This Health Screening Form must be completed by every person receiving a vaccine prior to their appointment. If you are registering for more than one person, please ensure the other members of your party also complete the Health Screening Form. Slots are available on a first sign-up basis.

To ensure adequate parking, and reduce time waiting in line at the event, please do NOT arrive more than 15 minutes before your scheduled appointment. Please also complete your Health Screening Form. We will have extra health screening forms onsite.

When: Friday, February 19, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Where: This event will be held at Highland Haven: 7600 NE Glisan St, Portland, OR 97213

Additional details:

  • We will have wheelchairs to help anyone with mobility issues.
  • No cost.  No ID needed. We’ll return in 4 weeks to provide second doses. The vaccine is Moderna.
  • The public health team is assembling a team of patient navigators to help with sign up, transport, questions, and day of appointment navigation in some key languages and can use interpreter services. More information will be available on this soon.
  • The sign up form is only available in English. The health screening will be available in additional languages as identified.

We will follow up with additional outreach and communication resources; please share any specific requests.

Here’s an update on COVID19 vaccinations from Multnomah County:

Two different lines for vaccinations are opening today (2/8) at 9am for seniors 80+ and anyone eligible in Phase 1A:

  • Oregon Convention Center – Phase 1A/Traditional Health Care Workers and seniors 80+
  • Red Economy Lot of the PDX airport – Seniors 80+

Please prioritize those who are or are supporting BIPOC communities, and Elders as supplies are limited.
